I have a few Gearwrench regular combination wrenches, and a couple of their socket sets. I'm very pleased with them. I'd say they'd fit in that category between Craftsman and snap on, for sure.

The pegs on the Gearwrench socket rails are square plastic and fit the sockets pretty snugly, plus they have a metal detent ball to hold them on. I have a 1/2" drive, deep well set that loses a socket from time to time, but the shallow set stays on very well.

I'd post a picture, but I tried to replace the lens of my cell phone camera last night, and it didn't go well, so pictures are not a thing for me right now.
