Since the really big companies are vertically integrated they will just pass the increased feed cost on to the retail customer. The real change in hog production may well come from the private producer who realizes he may be able to make as much money from selling his corn as feeding it to hogs. The large companies, especially those in the East, are more worried about availability of corn than price. |
