North Central Texas | Freedom to farm (96) allowed new grassland to be counted as cropland. All farms that have been in the program have base acres. 100 acre farm may have 40 wheat, 30 corn, 10 oats, ect. The government payments have always been controlled by the farms base acres. Plc and arc are the current formulas in the government payment from FSA. If you grassed that 100 acres, you could still get a farm program check on the base acres of what was historically grown. If the farm number has not reported actual crop production and only grass, it no longer qualifies for the current farm payments. | |
