I guess one thing I think it will do is restrict the market for your used equipment. You won't be able to ship that equipment to the overseas market without installing the older firmware. I'm sure the pressure for this feature is coming from overseas dealers. Those dealers will probably want a fee to activate the lightbar for use in their part of the world so the customer can use the newer firmware.
