Now I will say up front I've never been married or divorced so take my 2 cents FWIW. The older I get, the less likely I am to ever allow myself to get involved in a situation like that. I guess you could say I believe it's better to live my life alone, than to wish I was alone.

Rick's observation is so very true. Get it settled it in a timely fashion like rational adults. Through all this both of you need to keep the best interests of your kids in mind. Don't allow the kids to be used against the other in this mess. Most of all, don't let the lawyers drag this out to enrich themselves while putting both of you in the poorhouse. I know, it's easy for me to say. In every case I've seen lawyers do everythign they can to bleed divorcing couples dry.
