No need for big hose but they do use quite a bit of air if driving pipe posts. Steel T posts can pull compressor down if you are in hard ground. A smallish wheelbarrow style compressor with a Honda motor will barely keep up but might with some more storage plumbed in. The bigger Honda compressors work fine on their own, sorry I’m not familiar with cfm ratings

We use our 185cfm now with 1/2 hose but that’s mostly because the tamper needs that much air and they get used together. The distributor in Texas has some high flow fittings for 3/8 hose.

Nicest setup is having the coil spring weight saver hanging the driver off the side of truck or we use front end loader and chain. Takes an additional operator or two if using tractor.
