Big Sky Country | I bought some panels from local huetterite colony, heavy and made out of coiled tubing. About 11' and 100# or so. Dandy. Didn't really need them, another guy backed out and blacksmith is good friend.
Going to use 9 for gates on latest 'make things easier for old people' corral expansion.
I use 1" all thread, weld 1" rod to it, weld 1" i.d. pipe to top of loop you drop pin thru and also weld it to panel.
I hang the gate/panel upside down, it's got feet similar to yours. Put big torqe screw into post above hinges so nothing can lift them off.
Was using flat spade bit to drill thru post, but that's quite a grind since I believe you can't overbuilt a brace or that any post can be 'too big' to hang a gate on---bridge pilings and power poles are favorites--so bought some 'ship builders' auger bits
I scab something onto posts on both ends to take gates weight when open or closed. | |
