Col,

I don't know if you have access to a MSP Veris machine or not, but that would take care of your pH sampling density question since the MSP combines the traditional Veris Machine with a pH smapler.

(The following recommendation is based on the assumption that you have no other data layers to access.) If you don't have access to this machine, I would still use the veris to dictate how you sample. Without knowing anything about your soils or crops or growing conditions, the data from the veris would be very useful to you. As others have stated, once you have the data from the veris, it will not change.
