Gooday. ......not the same problem but the same solution
Had a Ford 240/300 6 cylinder ring gear was shot did not have a new one but had one that tooth and od was the same but the id was to big......the solution was space it out with shims about six around and spot weld on......proberly about 1978 to last run in about 2000 that was in a f100 71 model motor is still good but body is shot
