Holland, Indiana (SW IN) | Thought I needed to post this ---We have had quite a bit of PP years back
PP is why you pay the premium You never Know what will happen--its insurance You pay the premium and you collect IF you are owed from natural events NOTHING IMMORAL about collecting
You really need a good agent when you consider PP --the rules don't make sense BUT remember the government is making the rules--learn all the rules you are not making the rules some one else is you can only play the game with their rules--I will not argue right or wrong just what is
some of the best advice I was given --- Happened to run into an older gentleman 20 years back at a meeting started talking about CI
He farmed river bottoms his quote "no matter what try to plant some acreage on the farm you are taking PP establishes your yield for that year" --not talking about a garden spot just do the best you can do planting AND it almost always happens to be in the best tiled area of the field --and that is almost always a fact ---not illegal just a fact--we all do the best we can do
I will not get into how big the area you can leave for too wet to plant or how big you need to plant to establish yield for that year ---THAT'S why you need a GOOD agent
Good luck Dan
FWIW hope we get every thing planted here BUT have 55 acres planted with a 24 row planter and its raining now and looks like it will be raining for for the next 10 days
