Subject: RE: Too many irons in the fire,.......

We used to make our own, in fact we used teeth out of old horse pulled dump rakes to make them. Today we make them out of stainless steel. I got a good buddy is a welder, he made most of those irons in that pot. He charges $75 to make a iron. He comes and helps us brand as well. They last a long time before burnout, we just touch them up once a while with grinder. If a person takes care while returning iron to fire they will last even longer. You take care not to rest brand in pot on bars of the brand, taking care so brand doesn't get misshaped while heated in pot. A careless person can screw up a brand in short order causing it not to brand right.
