With that bracket that I have it is required to mount in six o’clock, there is only one hole in it to go around the ether button. Thus it can only be installed one way. I do not use ether but the button is still in my tractor. Therefore if using the OEM hardware, I believe it does dictate the orientation in an 8xxx tractor. The bracket should have had a hole on each side accordingly to allow mounting in either direction.
I could be wrong but with the Deere ATU 200 components it mounted in the downward direction only if. We will see if the 300 is different.
