Southern Indiana | I've had a lot more luck getting a stand of any kind of grass by planting in late August/early September than in the spring. If you have rotational grazing in mind where there's management involved I'd go with orchard grass. I'd stick with Potomac, because I've had a hard time getting the fancy varieties to come up. Fescue is good if it's more a base pasture and you can't stay off when it's wet. Let it get established good.
Downside to orchardgrass is when it gets overmature it's pretty worthless.
