I believe you are partially correct, but I believe that their hate stems from all the big oil money they get come election time and also in between elections. I've never know a politician that's been in DC any length of time that doesn't come out of there with a much larger bank account than when they started. Ethanol doesn't have the "donation" money big oil has.

As with everything, follow the money.
