Subject: RE: Case IH 4300 field cultivator

East of Broken Bow
I have a 4800, same shank spacing as the 4300, and have never plugged it in corn stalks, at least not the main frame part of it. You may need to adjust the harrow some, it never plugged so to speak, but would sometimes leave the stalks in little 'bunches' at the ends of the field, when you lifted it. Fiddling with the harrow settings, always seemed to work to cure that, but sometimes to keep it from plugging, we'd wish it could be just a tiny bit more aggressive at breaking up clods.
The only real difference between the 4300 and 4800, by my understanding, is that the 4800 has a heavier frame and shanks, that allowed working harder soil (or deeper tillage). The shank spacing and clearances I believe were the same.
