The bridge engine was a " bridge"in the emissions gap from the older engines to the acert engines. Cat was paying like $2500 fine per engine they were selling. The bridge engine had reduced emissions but still not 100 percent epa legal. I beleive they were trading emissions credits and paying fines. And this engine helped. Reduce that. I'd assume that it would probably not have the fuel economy of the earlier engines.
i haveca bridge 550 now. Fue economy isnt any different. Cat was ever known for it anyway. 5 to 5.5


There are tunes available that will increase C15 mpgs a solid 0.5 to 0.7 over any Cat tune. Good driver and proper gearing will get you 6 mpg fairly consistently from my experience. 80 to 90k loads on a dump trailer. 200 mile round trips. Empty one way. Gently rolling mostly interstate. Warm up/Cool down idling only. No cruise control.
