| The photo with the caption "Late April, rye has headed out" may have been taken the first week of May. I will have to check my notes.
On thing to keep in mind is that the rye in the experiment was drilled the last week of August.
It grew very vigorously last fall (as shown in the photos) and began elongating about a month earlier than the rye we drilled mid-November after corn harvest.

These photos show the first time we used the Howard rotavator that we purchased this spring.
We rotavated this field a second time last Friday and will most likely fit the field with a field cultivator right before planting a corn hybrid comparison this week (hopefully on Tuesday).
We ran the rotavator about 2" deep both times.
The field received about 6 yards of compost per acre a few days before we rotavated it the first time.
