I am surprised that your rye headed out in April----------ours never made it until very late May, and we are obviously a lot further south. No-tilling in late May does not give a lot of leeway for errors in event rye does not die like it should. Have you found that the planting date of the rye in the fall affects the heading out date in following spring?? How many bushels of rye planted per acre? Please keep us updated on your experiments---------my attempts at no-tilling into standing/rolled rye were absolute disasters..........even using 3bu of rye. If I could make the no-tilling of soybeans work-------I would renew planting them in a heartbeat. |
