If you were using a premium grade of #2 fuel you would not be seeing this problem. I spent 14 years as the owner of a farm fuel business and the lab results speak mountains on this very subject. If you are using truck stop diesel you will see this problem. Truck stop/ convience store diesel is designed to be used within a 2 week period. It does not need an algecide. If you are storing diesel for any length of time you need the algicide already built into it. I sold millions of gallons of both fuels. They both have their place,
