SE Indiana | Hold your ground, you can always change your mind before you get in court. The next time the land agent comes by tell him that you will raise the cost to access the land if he continues to refuse to cut you a check. They have no desire to go to court, especially this early in the game. They will further try to intimidate you until the pipeline is installed. If this goes through your land you will have a mess, with 90 ft of compacted land and ponds. Tile line will be damaged, surface drainage will be destroyed, if you are a notill operator you will need to do major tillage across this land. I have been dealing with a pipeline for over 6 years trying to get them to comply with our contract. Finally gave up and settled for less than a fourth of what I think it could cost us to fix the land. Start organizing your neighbors and find an attorney that speacializes in this area of property rights. I don’t feel they can give you enough money for the headaches coming your way. | |
