Fruita CO | I hear you on that. My wife has been a bigger NASCAR fan than I, but we decided to take in the Vegas race 2 years ago. It is a whole different experience from watching it on TV...TV bores me now worse than ever after seeing one in person. The noise can't be described. We were 8 rows up on turn 4, & when they come around & stand on it coming out of a caution, you feel it as well as hear it. I actually thought the rubber shreds on my arms were kinda cool...The whole experience was fun, we got passes to the garage area before the race. The headphones you rent to "hear the drivers talk to the crew" are a joke, they didn't work worth a crap.
The secret to traffic is to stay in Mesquite, drive to the track, & when it's over you can hang a right & miss the parking lot. The inbound to Vegas side was jammed up for 20 miles north of the track, we just cruised on back to Mesquite.
Vegas is about 500 from here, so it's drivable in a day... | |
