Not sure it can be fixed. Younger people just don't relate to racing like we did in the 60's-80's . I think making all the rules and making all the cookie cutter cars has been the biggest fault. I also don't like this stage racing or the chase. Used to be there were drivers that dominated and won championships with a race or two left. That's fine. You either admired him for being that good or you hated him and cheered for everyone else. Too much corporate sponsorship to run anymore so now you have multi car teams. The days of an independent putting a car on the track is about over.
I'm one of the few here but the only races I watch all year are the restricter plate races at Daytona and Talledega. There is a lot of skill in knowing where to be on the track and I love bump drafting.
I think fewer races would make the races we have more interesting. With so many races each race has less importance.
And I still think that when it rains, put rain tires on and keep going. Drivers skills would be tested and possibly better rain tires would be developed which would be good for everyone on the road.
