I dont know that it can be fixed. A race with wrecks is more exciting than one without. When the last of the "legends" retired, alot of fans went with them. They all had their own driving styles and skills. There seems to be too many cookie cutter drivers/teams/cars today. Along with the rule list getting far to large. The raw emotion, rubbing, and occasional fighting is part of what got them popular to begin with. Now they are all told how they need to look and act professional. Also, too much political correctness came in. (bush and winston were no longer acceptable). Now stage racing and guys trying to score points rather than win kind of takes some of the excitement out too. I watched the last hour today and had no idea who to cheer for.

I'm sure there is other factors, but I find myself watching the 500 and not another race all year.
