Subject: Good Question

North End I-15
I have bowled in an alley with the 5 pin set up . wifes home town of Cardston had a 5 pin set up . I think the alley @ Milk River is 5 pin also .
A mortar is most often only 2 diameters of projectile long . My tube is longer than the 2 diameters because the powder chamber is 6" in length . Thus 6" powder chamber plus 2 bolling ball diameters of 8.625 made my overall length of tube 24" (or real close ) Any longer and it becomes more cannon like . Of course cannons do shoot farther than a mortar. Velocity will vary with the amount of explosive force used.
Target distance will be in the 1 to 3 hundered yard range. Of course we will have to do a distance shot just for the sake of knowing what our boundries will be. :>)

Energy in foot lbs not calculated . Don't think my Crono graph will let a bowling ball through the light screens :>)
