Wife has always stayed home from the day we got married. But the understanding is her contribution to our "income" is being a home economist. Looks for ways to save money, be responsible in shopping, takes a greater role in shuttling kids around to activities Dr.s. etc. Past 2 1/2 years has been homeschooling one of our kids that needed it.

She is much more valuable to me by helping things be more efficient in daily activities helping a little on the farm than she would ever be working 9-5 and coming home all worn out.

Also we have agreed on what kind of lifestyle we are comfortable with and it is significantly less expensive than most our age. And we are not disappointed. No car payments, no cable TV bills, no fitness club memberships, no boats, toys, etc. We are satisfied with what we have. I think that is more important than actual household income level.
