I planted two sweet corn seed in a coworkers flower pot at work many years ago and they got to be 3 feet tall, but very spindly. Not enough sunlight from those flourescent tubes in a cube farm.
Smallest garden plot I had luck with was about 5 ft x 5 ft. Hardest part is keeping the bugs and critter out of it.
