southern MN | My aunt was leader of a small church group for a few years - sort of an elected position.
She was a pretty bold person, and you followed along or not - but she went her way with things. Period.
She said once she can be replaced no big deal, but everyone has an idea - some work, some don't, but everyone has an idea but no one was really willing to step up & follow through. You can't run the group by committee, someone had to lead. So as long as she was president, she would lead and do things her way, and fine if she was replaced.
I typically don't like people like my aunt was; but she did make a lot of sense in her explination too.
Without a big shot leading things, often a group falls apart. The committee doesn't get anywhere, and no leadership.
Most all small community orginisations are that way - the members have different views, tend to be a lot of gripes, but few that really want to lead. Most like just griping.
It's very hard to find the right group of people and the right person to make it all work smoothly, where things go forward & progress, ideas are listened to, and good ones are followed.
I guess we ask a lot of our local people.
Don't think I helped any, don't think I even addressed your questions!
I'm with the others, let the fella know, and bow out gracefully if things are rubbing you the wrong way. I can sure understand that!
