Subject: RE: going to be expensive

Se wisc.
Couple suggestions. First try your best to make any additions or improvements in the style of original house including exterior molding, Windows, overhangs and roof pitch. Back of our old house had an addition so we kept siding and window style the same as rest of the house. Doors are important too.
We originally were planning on just tearing lathe off and install new flooring. Ripped up old floor which had crawl space and most floor joist were broke or rotten. Decided to fill and compact gravel in crawl space, lay down tubing and pour concrete. Tied exterior wall studs to concrete and installed proper insulation for thermal break to outside. Our cold lopsided uneven floor utility room was transformed into tiled laundry with farm sink and full wall cabinets divided by wall to mud room with upper shelf combined with bench. Tucked behind the mud room a pantry with full wall cabinets, sink, dishwasher no. 2 and small undermount cooler. This transformation cost little to build except for cabinets. Closed cell foam made this room the warmest along with cozy warm floors. Have fun but be mindful of Budgets.
