I've pondered on this since your original post. I'd like to spend a half hour working up a well thought out response but don't have time right now. It really bothers me when folks feel they have to leave a church for any non-doctrinal reason (can't believe my spell check likes that word!). We've been going through that after a preacher that was VERY popular with part of the congregation was asked to leave. We've lost about half our attendance. But if you talk to those who left they can't site any doctrinal reason other than they are mad because the preacher was asked to leave. I'll try and come back to this when I have more time. But I'd side with the advice billybo gave "Kill them with love. Just let them have all the glory because it really does not matter. Man, my evil ego says other wise, but I believe what I suggested here is the best way. I believe it really takes a bigger man to let the big shot be a big shot than it is to change him. " There are only 2 ways to get rid of an enemy. Kill him or make him a friend. In fact I seem to recall reading someplace about being so nice to him it is like heaping burning coals on his head. Gotta run. Planter is waiting.
