Southeast Colorado
Even here we can choose to pay more on our residential power bill for green power. All they do is actually use the money to pay for the "green credits" to companies who are building wind power and are generating the credits. It kind of works like our ethanol RINS. Obviously the electricity all feeds the grid and doesn't care where it's generated. But this system financially incentivizes someone to build wind power. So it doesn't work directly like most people probably think...............but the end result about using more wind power as a nation is probably true.
