The big agri-food companies DO NOT care about farmers. I have no horse in this race regarding the whole corn commercial controversy, but it applies almost everywhere. Same deal with the large meatpackers buying synethic meat substitute startups.
They are in business to follow the profits and legally can do nothing else. They aren’t there to support you, they aren’t there to provide a fair market for your products, and they won’t be there for you when they no longer need you. They solely want to purchase your commodity at the lowest practical price, and when the day comes, they have no problem telling you that your commodity is no longer needed.
Place no faith in them. Maintain your independence.
