It's been awhile but I once saw a video in which there was a whole line of people representing different social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds. The narrator/director was standing several yards in front of the line and was holding a $100 bill. He said several things like "If you grew up in a two parent home take one step forward," "if your parents had good jobs take one step forward." Several other things along those lines. Finally he said "whoever gets here first gets the $100. The point he wanted to make was that some people begin life with certain advantages that others don't have - which is true. However, the point he missed was that there is more than one $100 bill that people can compete for. He was insinuating that we are all competing for the same $100, but that is just not true. When the economy grows the "pie" grows.
