| I read this thread last night...…………...an was thinking that I knew of a cemetery where graves were laidout North to South. But wasn't certain.
Passed by again today enroute home from church. Yup the entire cemetery is a longer run N-S than it is W-E wide. Graves therein are also N-S, with the occupants lying with their heads on the north ends of the graves. This is located by a Catholic church, so I have always assumed that most of the occupants of the cemetery were members of that Catholic church in Cunningham, Kansas.
Someone once told me that most graves are arranged E to W, so that the dead would be 'facing' …..or able to see Christ's Return, as he approached from the East.....but I have no verification of that. showboat | |
