Texas | dairyman78 - 2/2/2019 09:50 Thanks for the stories, I am assuming that coach had a screaming Jimmie for an engine along with a puddle of oil under it when you stopped.
It was the last year for the Silver 92, DDEC II electronic version, and it didn't leak or seep any oil, neither did it need makeup oil between oil changes. I guess as soon as Detroit Diesel got the 92 Series perfected it was time to start over with the Series 60 and a bunch of problems to work through.
I loved driving this coach and listening to the purr of the engine. I couldn't resist sticking my foot into it every time I took off. It was set at 445 HP which gave it a good launch. Nothing sounds as good as a Jimmy when it's wrapping the RPM's. Only problem with that was the engine is so far from the driver all you could hear was a soft muffled sound!
Edit to add: Even the Jake Brake was pretty effective as I didn't need to use the brakes until the very last bit of a stop. I had a Jake years ago on an old 318 that didn't do much except change the sound a little bit. This Jake was clearly improved from the old days.
