Subject: RE: Setting Cummins Step Timeing Controle Injectors

south texas
There are 2 methods to set inj on stc engine. Ibc - what u are referring to and obc.

the ibc uses a little tool to hold the poppet up so u can set the lash at 0 by using the 6in lb torque wrench.

The obc method (cummins recommeds this method now) uses a dial in lb wrench to set the inj under a load. Its 125 in lb for my 855. The obc is preferred bc it takes the wear into consideration when setting the injectors. The obc method u set the inj at different pionts than ibc. If u have a new motor and inj, the ibc will do fine. U dont need anything special for obc but the dial in lb torque wrench. If u buy one, get your engine spec so u can get one with correct range to make job easy. I use a 200 or 300 range, i can't remember which it is.

if u search my name i have made several posts with more information.
