But, up in the northern states (provinces), the light colored buildings won't heat up as much, costing more to heat in the winter.
FYI, a dark colored building will also cool off faster. Similar to radient heating, except it's called Black Body Radiation.
The dark asphalt also helps the snow melt off the roads in the snow areas.
