My roof is galvanized steel. If I hadn't put on galvanized, I would have used white steel. That is a personal choice.
IMHO, the constitutional right to put on any gosh darn color roof you want should not be infringed. To butcher ... ummm... paraphrase someone's sig line here, "When black roofs are outlawed only outlaws will have black roofs"
The white asphalt idea is too stupid to waste my time to comment, so I'll stop typing now.
Next best thing for Global warming - paint your roof and asphalt road white
