Subject: RE: GSI Top Dry Cost?

Oxford County, ON
We run our elevator on single phase and propane, so don't get too hung up on that. NG is definitely cheaper than LP but you gotta make do with what you have. If NG ever comes down your raod, the burner just requires a different nozzle. Our leg runs on a VFD to convert the single to 3-phase. We have been very happy with our top dry over the years and dry our wheat and soys in it as well. The design is so simple; there really isn't much to go wrong. Between running trucks back and forth from the field and drying overnight, I probably spend more time away from the dryer when it's running than not. We've never converted it to auto batch because we don't have a dedicated wet bin and leg, but its something I'd like to do down the road.
And don't discount the extra storage that comes with a top dry. We wish we'd put 2 or 3 more rings under ours when we built it.
