| yes we are all fine. God always seems to be there watching over us. I don't even want to drive it anymore...before this incident I loved my van...but right now I just get sick about the thought of driving it...the worst though is Fords attitude about it...like I said before the ONLY reason someone owns a mini-van is that they have multiple children to transport that makes their unconcern for the problem sickening...it will take someone dying and probably more than one to force them to pay attention to what people are saying. I found this post by searching on google...I hope others find it too and if enough people realize that it is a problem and document it maybe they will do something...it looks like the problem also spans many years from around 98-2002 models...This was a popular van and there are lots of them on the road right now...it is scary to think about all those soccer moms and their precious cargo going from place to place unaware that the thing could be cracking at any moment...I even thought maybe I was crazy...didn't pay attention to a sound or something...but all in all from the first time I heard the sound till my van went BOOM in the middle of the road was about 40 minutes...there was no prior warning except a slight squealing sound when the wheel was turned to the right...from what I have read some don't even get that warning...so anyways I am sorry to have this in common with you...but anyone who owns a Ford Windstar should definitely check out the rear axle...but then again from other posts I have read on the internet...just looking at the outside may be little help...as the issue seems to be a rusting of the inside to the outside that leads to failure...

I plan on keeping my receipts for the repair...which looks like is going to be about 800-1000 because I REFUSE to put a used axle on the van...fearing a repeat of this nightmare...it will be dropped off tomorrow at the garage and maybe sometime in the future they will recall this and I can be reimbursed BUT I feel so sick because I just have this bad feeling that someones children will be harmed or possibly killed if this is not preventively resolved by Ford | |
