I have bought some 250-300 lb calves in jan and feb, put in an old barn or small pen, then let them run on grass with my other fall calves and sell in late summer, green weighing about 600 lbs. Usually, nobody wants to fool with that size of calves during that part of the winter, so they are cheaper.
