I can't speak for Hog but I would assume the reason parks were shut down and barricaded was for safety reasons. I am a little surprised they are not doing that this time. It stands to reason you are going to have huge issues if these parks are not staffed. I think it would be a far bigger mess leaving them open than shutting them down.
If you don’t remember, the administration barricaded outdoor monuments such as the world war 2 memorial and the Vietnam war wall. If you’ve never been to DC, a lot of the memorials are open 24-7 and are walk through. At the same time that the wall, Lincoln memorial and other famous monuments were closed other lesser known parks and monuments were not barricaded or shuttered. Why was that happening? If it was for safety shouldn’t all of them been closed? If you’ll also remember the police were called in to remove veterans honoring their brothers, at a memorial, a wall. |
