You folks applauding the government shut down have probably never been in a country without a functioning government and civil service.

This current shutdown in order to fund a crazy wall, largely along a river, that was going to be "paid for by Mexico" but now is ok to be paid for by borrowed money and ultimately our grandkids and greatgrandkids as the deficit balloons out of control due to a crazy tax cut and as families are going unpaid, is despicable and an embarrassment.

It is holding hostages for ransom money.  When you can't get what you want legally, even through a totally Republican congress, you destroy the country and the government until someone gives you your lollipop...

It is almost as bad as tearing young kids from their parents at the border and putting the kids in fenced holding pens where what is really happening is that we ourselves are creating the next generation of terrorists.

Is this the democracy that WW II veterans fought for and many died for to save us from the totalitarians?
