I think the biggest problem you'll face is maintaining the enthusiasm required to practice and take on new things when despair hits at the apparent lack of progress and how long the road ahead seems to be. You likely will feel like smashing your incompliant guitar into a hundred pieces. It is a long journey, and it's probably better if you can focus on the journey itself, rather than the goal of the destination. Do you have any musical knowledge to start with ? I didn't have, and found ( and continue to find) that every now and then something clicks and another set of things fall into place. But it can be frustrating and bewildering. I wouldnt worry if you can't read music... Paul McCartney couldnt for most of his career ( not sure if he may have learned in later years) and he managed to sort of struggle through..... Many reasonably competent guitarists don't read music. |
