That said, you have to have 2 hot legs  110 x2  and a neutral wire, to have 220.  A ground wire does not count.

You are going to need 220  (110 x2) plus the neutral wire from the pole clear to the pump.
(black, white and likely red wire)   The unshielded ground wire don't count.

Otherwise you will only have 110 trying to run 220 motor.
