NW Washington | John Deere tried to sell those 50 series tractor in the Palouse hills to replace the crawlers that were used at that time. And some of them were modified with longer rear axles and other things to make them work better on hillsides. But they were a hard sell and the Olivers with front wheel assist and Versatile and Stieger 4x4's beat them to the punch for wheel tractor sales in this area.
My FIL was a John Deere salesman during this period and he complained about how slow Deere was about coming up with a good 4x4. | |
