South Central Iowa | And I'm going to add $250,000 p.o.s. houses....
You want to see what terrible construction looks like, go to a suburban single unit, tract housing development. Those homes are only marginally better quality than a manufactured double-wide. Terrible site prep, rushed concrete and foundation work, cheap materials in the framing, sheeting and siding, poor alignment covered with caulk, puddy, and paint, and a general disregard for care or quality. Everything is built with the lowest passable grade.
I think it is another sign of low interest rates. If borrowing were more expensive, the homes would be fewer built, more care would be taken, and a smaller, but higher quality product would result.
Most of the ranch homes built from the 60's to the 80's are of much better quality to be honest.
