Will be fun to watch the spread in price between urea and NH3 over the next couple of years. Here it is about $.03 for Spring. Urea normally runs about $.10 over NH3. The fertilizer brokers look for urea to be cheaper than NH3 within 3 years due to regulations demanding logistic changes at the manufacturing level. The farmer can buy urea direct at a discount without much of a facility where NH3 is not as easy of a product for the farmer to store and buy direct from the manufacturer. I believe that with the yield data being built behind Urea and the closing in price gap that it is a definite economic advantage especially when banded with P&K. Application does not seem to matter. Can band in a strip-till program, inject with ripper and cart or inject with old nh3 bar and cart. Just band it and cover it and you will be money ahead. There are not many opportunities in agriculture to improve yield without adding passes or cost. The savings in N rate alone pays for most of the spread difference in price. Not sure if you noticed that the Urea test had 21 units less of N than the NH3 test. This is because they did not deduct the N in the NPSZ from their NH3 rate.
