I always test purchased stockers. (400-500lbs). When you are buying groups of 15 or 20 to put together a load the chances of getting a positive one is good. I have had two positives in a group of 60. Absolutely no way of telling by looking, the best number one, black looking calf in the group. Get them out the others clear up fast. You can have a closed herd but if a neighbor has a pi calf it can infect your pregnant cow thus producing your own Pi calf. Well worth the money spent. Local butcher/retailer will buy them at 800 lb.
