That photo, from the internet, was only used to show a cross brace(horizontal smaller post) used "inbetween" the fence wires. {I tried to find a picture, similar where they used barbed wire, an wrapped the corner post, but couldn't find one}

 

Years ago, one of the pro fence builders, started using Earth Auger/s, at each corner post, along with your typical braces and brace wire. Those earth auger were screwed into ground about 1.5 ft away from corner post (under brace, inline with fence) and tied with #9 wire and twisted as normal brace wire = this creates a very downward pull on corner posts, and helps during freeze/thaw cycles.

Once Dad saw that, he started doing the same thing. It helps. (little additional money, but better strength in corners)
