I might just have to see if Destin's assessment of welders sometimes being smarter than engineers is a fact.... ;-)


I will confirm that is often the case. Best the engineer and the welder talk with each other and solution will be better than either of them can do alone.

I was asking my high school physics students the other day to imagine how much better it would’ve been if Thomas Edison had said to Tesla “great idea, let’s work on that together!” Regarding wiring the USA in ac vs dc. Instead, arrogant Edison electrocuted elephants trying to discredit his employee turned perceived rival.


Just imagine - - - - we would have 3 phase electricity on every farm - - - - wow.

Today, in north america, 3 phase is considered weird and in many other parts of the world - - - - well they use 3 phase power in their 'homes'.

Our legacy equipment is killing us! (There is a district in our close major city where the distribution voltage is around 4000 V (when most of NW north america is at 14.4k V).)
